The Friends group is involved with fundraising for the Library, as well as raising awareness of all the wonderful community events and resources the Library has to offer.

We hold meetings as needed, and our next meeting will be held at the Library on Monday, October 11, at 6:30 pm.  We are always looking for new members, so please consider joining our group.  As a part of our job at the Library, the Friends group coordinates several fundraisers throughout the year:

  *  We host Scrapbooking Day events at various times thoughout the year, and often offer either craft or snack items for sale at the Library front desk as a fundraiser.  Our next event is may be held in the fall, depending upon interest.   Watch this page or our blog for more information as it becomes available!  Registration forms will be available at the library front desk - register early, as this was a very popular event last year, and space is limited! You can download the flyer, too.

  *  We will host our Fourth Annual Costume Swap in early October at the Library.  This is a very popular event, and an inexpensive way to get costumes, wigs and accessories for your Halloween events.  We are also including children's dressy attire:  First Communion dresses, baptismal gowns, wedding attire, Easter and Christmas outfits.  Watch the blog and the website for the date and time.

  *  We also play a role in the events held at the Library during Hammond Heartland Days in August.  Watch for information on the Teddy Bear Band, food stand, carnival and more!

Donations

If you would like to help the Library through your donations, we are constantly looking for items to be used in our events, fundraisers and programs.  You can bring your donations of the following items to the Library front desk at any time:

*  Gently used or new child or adult Halloween costumes, wigs or accessories

*  Gently used or new children's holiday or formal attire

*  Mason jars, pint or quart size, with lids

*  Ribbon

*  Yarn

*  Egg cartons

*  Paper grocery bags

*  Buttons (flat)

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the Library, you can serve your community in many different ways.  Stop by the front desk and fill out a Volunteer Application, and let us know how you can share your talents with us!  We are always looking for new ideas, and would be glad to have your help.

Please visit our blog, http://hammondlibrary.wordpress.com, for the very latest in Friends and Hammond Library information, including photos of our various events.  You can also find the Library on Facebook!

You will also find a copy of the latest Friends newsletter on the Friends bulletin board inside the entry at the Library.
