The Hammond Friends of the Library Group is looking for new members! Although we have been meeting and holding events since March of 2007, we have recently formalized our group, adding by-laws and a formal membership application process.
The mission of the Friends group is to raise awareness of what the Hammond Library has to offer our community, lead fundraising efforts and support library programs.
This year, we have hosted a Halloween Costume Shop, a Spring Gift Basket Auction and a Christmas in July Garage Sale, among other things. The funds we raised were used, in part, to purchase a movie projector for our library. Unfortunately, we cannot use the upper level of our library, for Movie Nights or other events during the winter months, as it is not adequately insulated. Our long-term fundraising goal is to assist the library with the updates required to make the upper level useable year-round, and to add an elevator, to better serve our community.
Please join us in working toward that goal, by becoming a Friend of the Library! We ask that our members commit to attending at least 8 of our 11 monthly meetings throughout the year, and assist with at least 2 events during the year. If this sounds like something that would interest you, please print and fill out the membership form, and return it to the library with your sponsorship dues. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the library to find out more. Thanks so much for your consideration; with your help, we can make our Group even more successful, bringing more resources to our community!
